Fan Mussel Dish
Fan mussels are one of the representative foods of Jangheung. Jeongnamjin Jangheung Fan Mussel Festival is held every year in May in Jangheung. It is served with sour red chilli pepper paste by boiling or slightly grilling on a pan or as a spicy raw fish salad.

Jangheung fan mussels are produced in the clean waters of Deuknyangman Bay fish farm complex. It shares about 84% of the nationwide fan mussel production. Under the theme of fan mussels, festival is held every year in May. Jangheung fan mussels are different from those of other regions. First, the size of the adductor is incomparably larger than that of other fan mussels. Since they are grown from mud flat with abundant minerals, its flesh is tender, aromatic and softer than the fan mussels grown in the sandy west coast.
Fan mussel dishes include grilled fan mussel samhap, raw fan mussel, laver soup with fan mussels, sweet and sour fan mussels, and spicy raw fan mussel salad.
